one: How I Built This Podcast
I am a HUGE fan of podcasts! I am constantly listening to them. While I am driving, cleaning, working out, walking Rex. All the time. It is constant positive learning for me. There are so many things I want to read and learn and do but time is an issue. Life is busy and sometimes those things aren't priorities. But for me, podcasts have been ways I can "learn on the go". I listen to all kinds: business related, food related, training and running, etc. I recently discovered How I Built This a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to stop listening. They interview owners of big brands and companies and ask them all about "how they built it". It is so fascinating and interesting to me listening to how these huge companies got started as well as so motivating and inspiring. You have to give this a listen. Here are 3 of my favorite episodes:
two: Phocus Caffeinated Sparkling Water
Stop right now and go get this life-changing water! It has been saving the day for months now! Long story short: I love coffee. Sometimes coffee doesn't love me (wrecks my stomach recently and it tastes so incredibly bitter I can't even pretend to like it). It's sad. Really sad. So in times like now where my schedule is the crazies,t it is all year and I NEED the extra caffeine, especially a 2:00 pm pick me up. I am a huge fan of sparkling water (way before it was trendy, thanks mom!). This is sparkling water with caffeine! WHAT?! I could literally go on and on about the magic goodness of this stuff but I will spare you. Tastes delicious. No caffeine coffee jitters. No feeling like my heart may explode because all the sudden can my stomach no longer can handle coffee but neither can my heart rate. No upset stomach. Taste delicious. Yeah, I am a customer for life. PLUS local Louisville guys created it! WIN WIN!
three: Arnicare Gel
Busy schedule = not as consistent of workouts. Unfortunately. I am proud of myself for getting 3-4 runs a week and 1-2 lifts in. It is sad but true. However, I have really been trying to focus more this year on taking better care of my body physically. In the means of trying to change my mentality of "if I am not killing myself I am not working hard enough". Yeah, it's easier said than done. :/ I am my own worst critic and the hardest on myself. Grace is for everyone else but me. Well, at least that is the mindset I am trying to change and work on. So with that comes a focus on longer warm-ups and cooldowns, more yoga, more foam rolling and mobility work, trying to get a massage every 6 weeks, consistent chiro appointments, lots and lots of Epsom salt baths. It is a work in progress but we are getting there. In the muscle love endeavor, this Arnicare gel has been a fav for a couple years now. My mom introduced me and I will sing its praises all day long.It significantly helps when my muscles are sore to recover faster and I even use as preventative measures (ex: lathered up pre and post KY Derby mini this past weekend). Grab this stuff when you're at your local grocer or on Amazon and start using it on a regular basis and I promise you will feel a difference!
four: Kentucky Derby Hot Brown Sliders
Um hello! INDULGENT TREAT OF THE MONTH! 100% not healthy 110% incredibly delicious! It is all Derby everything here in Lousiville and is hands down my most favorite time to live here. The town is a constant party for 3 weeks leading up to Derby. So fun! In honor of all things, Kentucky I came up with a derby-inspired appetizer and it may be one of the greatest things I have ever down before. Justin and I were fat and happy the week I was testing this recipe. You have to make this for your Derby party. They will be gone in 2.5 seconds. Hands down a Bilyeu fav this month!
five: Sausage Balls
Yes, another food-related item. Can't help it. Bust schedule = no time to cook and 0 desire to. I need quick, healthy and easy. Things that require 0 brain effort in making or preparing. These sausage balls have been lifesavers. Breakfast, lunch, snack they have done the job. I will make a big batch and freeze half and eat on the other all week. Justin can't get enough of them either. And they have been the most popular recipe I have had friends make and tell me about which is SO EXCITING! It is scary putting out recipes. Some will like, not all, but when you hear raving reviews from multiple friends it is one of the coolest feelings. 🙂
I am pumped for May. I am crossing my fingers it means consistently warmer weather, the start of a slower season and the kick off to SUMMER! Let me know some of your favorite things this month in the comments below.
