Here we are, the first month of 2019 already finished. Which in my brain is just one step closer to warm weather and summer!
This year I decided to do a little something different. After every month last year I sent out my 5 favorite things I had been loving that month (you can find them all here) and I wanted to switch it up a little. More like if you and I were to sit down with a glass of wine after a long day and catch up on what's really going on. But obviously via the world wide web. So here we are. Pour a glass of wine, sit back and relax and lets chat!
I am Slightly Sous Vide Obsessed
My brother got us a Sous Vide for Christmas and I can't count how many times I have used it so far. If you don't know what a Sous Vide is, it's a French cooking method that heats up water to a certain temperature to cook food slow and steady from the outside in and evenly. Ever want your steak perfectly medium-rare all the way through? The sous vide will do that every. single. time. I have been LOVING it and have been experimenting with a couple of recipes that will be coming to the blog shortly! We have made pork tenderloin, burgers, steak, salmon, egg bites, chicken, and a dessert that's going to blow your socks off.
He got us the Anova Sous Vide that is Wifi and Bluetooth compatible and that you can operate via its app. I find what I want to cook, press start, and walk away. If you love cooking, I know you would love this. It is an investment piece but so worth it!

Also Enneagram Obsessed
Have you heard of the Enneagram? It's what Justin and I are spending our nights talking about recently. About a year ago, my friend Morgan told me about the book, The Road Back to You, and I have been trying to figure out my number ever since and just recently think I have landed it. There is a test that goes along with it that you can take here, but I have found that is just a guide and starting point. I actually am not the first number I scored and why it's taken me a year of learning and reading and listening to figure out what I am.
It is a personality test that goes much deeper than what you like and don't like and where you get your energy from. I can't really do a good job of explaining it because it is so deep and complex, so I recommend reading The Road Back to You and listening to some podcasts about it. These are just a couple of the ones I have listened to and enjoyed.

I Got to Dig into My New Planner!
Maybe this should be titled January Wine Down Wednesday - current obsessions because if there is anything that I am most obsessed with in this world it is my planner. I can't live without it. I have been and will always be a paper planner type of person and will never be able to go fully digital. I like to touch it, write in it, schedule my days by the hour, and most importantly - cross my to-do's off! Such a
This year I tried Erin Condren for the first time and I am so happy I did! I have wanted one for years and finally treated myself this year. It is a perfect size, hourly layout, colorful, plenty of room to write in and I got to customize design some aspects.
You just can't beat the feeling of a new year and breaking open a brand new planner with fresh crisp pages and a blank slate. It is inspiring, exciting,
What kind of planners do you all use? If you do use one then there is a definite style that you need and are drawn towards!
It is Winter/Spring - Which Means Track has Started - Which Means I Live There till May
One of the biggest things that come with the new year and January for me is the start of
I will keep you posted on how this season goes as we aren't even in the thick of the season yet -
And Finally - Thoughts on an Experiment
During Christmas break and the beginning of this month, I watched lots of movies. I have tried to do better about taking time off to relax and do things that I enjoy but don't allow myself to do-- I am not very good at it but it is a constant work in progress.
I watched Julie and Julia a couple weeks ago and got totally inspired! I have Julia Childs cookbook but sadly have never made anything from it. I am trying to do better by cooking 1-3 new things a month form the cookbooks that I have, but watching that movie made me want to cook through Mastering the Art of French Cooking just like Julie did.
It's kind of an ambitious goal or thought and probably totally unrealistic for me during the spring. But maybe not, I dunno. I am going to dust it off the shelves this weekend and see what possibilities could lay ahead. I can learn some new cooking techniques and make things I have never have before. Could be fun.
Will be fun.
Yeah, I am going to try and make that a reality.
Again, I will keep you posted.
Ok, you've probably gone through 2 glasses of wine already. Sorry, long-winded 🙂 How did your first month of 2019 go? Tell me below. I want to hear all the things. Oh and be sure to come back Monday - we have a sinfully chocolately something something for Valentine's coming your way!
