Description

This bourbon BBQ sauce is cooked in one pot on the stovetop in just 20 minutes, making it a quick and flavorful addition to any Southern meal. Featuring Kentucky bourbon, hints of sweetness from brown sugar and honey, tanginess from apple cider vinegar, and a blend of simple spices. It’s a versatile sauce perfect on grilled chicken, baked salmon, or even deviled eggs—basically, anything you love to enjoy BBQ on! Yields 12 ounces.


Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Ketchup
  • 1/4 Cup Kentucky Bourbon
  • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper


Instructions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a medium saucepan. Place on the stove over medium heat and bring to a low simmer/boil.
  2. Once at the simmer, turn the meat down to medium-low and cook for 20 minutes until reduced slightly and thickened. Whisking every 5 minutes or so so as not to scorch or burn the bottom.
  3. Remove from the heat and pour into a mason jar. Use right away if desired or let come down to room temp on the counter then seal and store in the fridge for up to a month using as needed.
