Description
Homemade Tzatziki sauce is so easy to make yourself. Just a couple of fresh ingredients and you will have a homemade sauce that you'll love!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Medium Cucumber
- 1 Cup Non-fat Plain Greek Yogurt
- 2 Teaspoons Olive Oil
- Juice 1/2 Lemon
- 1 Teaspoon Salt and Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Dill (or 1 Teaspoon dried dill)
Instructions
- Peel your cucumber and grate using the largest grating hole on a cheese grater. Lay on a paper towel and sprinkle with salt and let sit for 5-10 minutes. The salt will help draw out any excess moisture in the cucumber.
- In a bowl add in greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, chopped dill, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Fold the paper towel corners together and squeeze all the excess water out of the cucumber over the sink. Add into the greek yogurt mixture. Mix to combine. Add more salt and pepper to taste if needed.
Notes
- Leftovers can be store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
- Enjoy Tzatziki sauce on Gyros, dipping sauce for fresh veggies and pita chips - makes for an excellent appetizer, serve alongside grilled chicken and veggie kabobs , or use as a dressing in a salad - make it a Greek salad for even more of a punch (romaine lettuce, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, olives, feta and your choice of meat)
