Create a smooth and creamy whipped feta dip with honey and pistachios, combining salty and sweet flavors in a cold dip - perfect to serve at any party. Using a food processor, whip up this irresistible appetizer in just 5 minutes with only 6 ingredients. This is a top Fueling a Souther Soul recipe for good reason!
I truly think sometimes that I could have a site that was just solely based on southern appetizer recipes and dips and spreads. Recipes like creamy 5 minute lemon fruit dip, 2 minute cream cheese and pepper jelly dip, and spinach & artichoke dip in a bread bowl are ones that are regular rotation at our house. From growing up in a family that owns a catering business and learning how to throw parties at a very young age, I know the importance of having a great dip out for your guests (accompanied by a glass of wine 😉 ) as soon as they walk in the door.
This whipped feta dip has become a go-to for me when hosting parties. After recipe testing several times, I found the best method for getting a smooth and creamy dip that offers the perfect balance of salty and sweet.
Using a food processor to blend up the cream cheese and block of feta cheese along with the garlic, olive oil, thyme, and a pinch of salt not only helps create the smooth consistency but gives it the perfect amount of air whipped through making it light and 100% spreadable on a cracker. Let me show you how I like to make it!
Key Ingredient Notes
Feta Cheese -I recommend using feta in the block form and not the crumbles. I found while testing this recipe that using the block will result in a smoother and creamier dip. The crumbles have a coating around them of an anti-caking agent, similar to shredded cheese, which isn't the best for this dip. You usually can find a block of feta in the specialty cheese section of your deli.
How to Make
This dip truly couldn't be any easier to make. Place it all in a food processor and it comes together in 5 minutes or less!
Enjoy this cold feta dip with any and all of the following for dipping:
- pita bread or chips
- water crackers or crackers you love
- wheat thins
- cucumbers
- mini peppers
- or slices of toasted sourdough bread
While technically you can save the leftovers, I find it best eaten fresh right away. Because of the honey, it can get kinda gross and messy if trying to save. If you want to prep ahead of time, make the dip and keep stored in an airtight container in the fridge. When ready to serve, place in a shallow bowl then top with honey to maximize the freshness and presentation of the dip.
