In the South, sausage ballsare a party staple...you'll find them anywhere appetizers are served. My recipe combines ground pork sausage, grated cheddar cheese, milk, Italian seasoning, and Bisquick baking mix. No cream cheese! They're a breeze to make: form into bite-sized balls and bake. Juicy, flavorful, and ready in 45 minutes. Makes 50 balls.

As a Southern cook there is absolutely no bridal or baby shower where appetizers for entertaining are required that do not include baked sausage balls. They are actually one of my weaknesses... I can't eat just one y'all, I will have like 10 easily!
My family's recipe coudln't be more simple. You only need 5 ingredients and 1 bowl. Plus these can be served warm, room temp, or even cold - making them great to prep ahead! Let me show you how to make them step by step.

💡 Some ingredient callouts. We have always used the brand name Bisquick mix. I am sure you can use others but this is how I was taught and I have not strayed.

How to Make

Using a cookie scoop* helps ensure the same uniform size with each ball. This helps them bake evenly at the same time too. I like to scoop them all out onto the baking sheet and then roll them in my hands to make sure they are packing well and in an even ball shape. (*affiliate link)
Include these Southern sausage balls alongside Kentucky-style beer cheese dip recipe and 5 minute creamy fruit dip for at your next big gathering.
